The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles.

Finishing times vary. Most of our program participants will complete the 5k in 40-50 minutes, but some may finish in under 30 minutes. If you are not serving as a running buddy for your girl, talk to her coach about her estimated completion time so you can be at the finish line to celebrate with her!

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

Please contact Bass Pro Fitness Series with specific questions or concerns. Medical and emergency support services will be provided by Mercy Health System. Course marshals and police support will be utilized on the course to keep participants safe.

The 5k is part of a large community event that includes a marathon and half-marathon on the same day. GOTR participants will be paired with an adult running buddy to keep them safe on the course.

Please contact Bass Pro Fitness Series for information.

A Running Buddy is an individual designated by the council or by the parent/guardian to complete the 5K alongside a program participant during the 5K event, for the entire duration of the course.

Yes! This is encouraged! This is a great way to accomplish a goal together.

Absolutely! Every registered participant who completes the 5K will receive a medal and a 5k shirt from Bass Pro. GOTR also provides a GOTR shirt to registered running buddies attending the 5k. Buddies are encouraged to wear the GOTR shirt on race morning to represent alongside their girl.

Yes! Family, friends and community members outside of our program can participate in the event, but must register.

This means our end-of-season 5K is an external 5K, or a community 5K that is developed, organized and managed by an organization outside of Girls on the Run. Our council has chosen to participate in this event as our culminating 5K.

A virtual 5K is still a 3.1-mile event, but is completed from a location that you choose. That could be in your neighborhood, at a nearby park, on a trail or even on a treadmill! It’s your 5K and you can run, walk, roll or push it at your own happy pace!

We highly encourage Running Buddies, even for the virtual 5K.

Yes. All 5K registration forms include liability waivers.

The Bass Pro expo (Friday/Saturday before the 5k) will include vendors selling a variety of merchandise. For GOTR merchandise, stop by our expo booth!

Yes! As this is the highlight of the season, there will be spirit stations for the girls, including temporary hair color, temporary tattoos and GOTR logo eyeblacks. Girls choosing to participate in these pre-race activities need to arrive between 6:15 and 6:30 am. (note: the time changes on Saturday, November 2, so everyone gets an extra hour of sleep!)

See the price schedule above under 5k event details. Running Buddies - Be sure to register by September 30, 2024 to take advantage of the discounted running buddy fee.

The adult price increases from $25 to $35 on October 1, 2024 and from $35 to $40 on October 15, 2024 so be sure to register with Bass Pro Fitness Series early if you plan to be a running buddy for your girl.
